Introduced in 1970 as a three-door, the Range Rover did not get rear doors until ten years later, when a four-door model came on the market in June 1981. As many of competitors eliminated three-door SUVs from their selections, Land Rover decided to continue manufacturing the three-door Range Rover for the European market. Most of the three-door Range Rovers of the 1990s were sold to Southern Europe and were often equipped with VM’s and later Land Rover’s own diesel engines for tax reasons.

In 1989, Land Rover introduced a 3.9 liter version of Rover’s V8 to the Range Rover. The transmission was either a ZF four-speed automatic or an LT77 five-speed manual with oil pump and cooler. With a new injection engine and a better insulated body, the three-door Range Rover was modernized to the comfort level of the four-door model. At the turn of the decade, the Range Rover also underwent numerous other reforms and, among other things, velor became available as an interior material.

This 1991 3.9 Efi V8 was manufactured in May 1991 and sold new by Land Rover’s official dealer to Córdoba, southern Spain. In Spain, the car has only had two private owners one in Spain and the last one in Barcelona. Finnish A. Niemeläinen bought the car from Spain to Finland in 2022.

The Range Rover has only driven 104,500 kilometers. The body and chassis are in really good, original condition, even the factory’s original markings on the axles are preserved. The car has been repainted in the original Roman Bronze shade and the paintwork is in excellent condition. The car is rust-protected in 2022.

During the years 2022-2024, the car has been renovated and serviced respecting the originality:

The engine has new spark plugs, stepper motor and both injection- and engine temperature sensors. The engine oil and filter, as well as the oils of the gearbox, transfer gearbox and axles have been renewed. Oil pump checked and serviced. The cooling system has been washed and the water pump and coolant have been renewed. The brake and clutch fluids have been renewed.

The exhaust system has been renewed. The bushings of the longitudinal support arms have been renewed. The shock absorbers have recently been renewed. The tires are new Toyo AT tires in the original size, fitted with the original color matched 3-spoke wheels.

The heating device and the fan ducts have been disassembled, cleaned and renovated. The interior has new door cards and loading space trims. The roof upholstery has been renewed recently.

New stainless steel bumpers, front airdam with new fog lights and new mudflaps installed. Both the tail lights and headlights are still the very original ones.

The car’s Rover V8 engine runs smooth and feels as healthy and powerful as You can except such a low mileage car to be. Gearbox work perfectly and is very precise. The preciously preserved cabin, with brown Velor seats, feels really special.

The car is Mot/Tüv inspected in February 2024 and is ready to drive and enjoy.
