Description
This beautiful Pininfarina Daytona is one of the rarer and more sought after plexiglass versions, the original and purest version of the classic Pininfarina design.
Ferrari 365 GTB/4’s are affectionately know as the Daytona due in recognition of the Ferrari 1-2-3 victory in the Daytona 24-Hour race in 1967. In comparison to its direct competitor the Lamborghini Miura the Ferrari's design was seen by some as conservative, but its classic Pininfarina blend of elegant and musular lines have really stood the test of times well and, not least, the Daytona was actually faster than its main competitor.
An Italian LHD example from new the car is still retaining its original colour of Rosso Chiaro with the original interior trim colour of Pella Nero (Black Leather) as well as retaining its wooden steering wheel and seats without headrests, just as per original delivery.
This beautiful car was first delivered to Motor s.p.a, Bologna, in February 1971, where it was swiftly delivered to its new owner who also in lived in Italy.
The car appears to have remained in Italy for the majority of its life undergoing a full restoration by a marque specialist Motors S.r.L in Modena, in 1990.
It popped up for sale in auction in Switzerland in 2006 when it was once again bought by an Italian and thus headed home again.
After the Italian curator the car was up for sale in the UK and also was registered there for a while.
The car then resurfaces again at an auction in France in 2011 where it would seem it was purchased by a caring new owner who very soon put it into restoration by renowned marque specialist Toni Auto, in Italy in August of 2012, with the car then being presented to Ferrari for the Classiche inspection on the 5th December 2012. The Classiche red book is still with the car and remains in excellent condition (full details available upon request).
Registered to the last owner in February 2017 who has kept the car mechanically in tip top condition as it was used to travel between his homes in Paris and the South of France and Monaco, this means that even the air conditioning works superbly. There is a significant folder of bills outlining the mechanical work that has been completed.
The car also benefits from being fitted with an electric power steering system taking the heft our of manouvering this manly GT around in town and the engine appears very strong courtesy of an engine rebuild in 2014, with little distance covered since
The car is new into stock all the relevant presales preparation has been completed, meaning the car is on the button and ready to be enjoyed.
Even today the Daytona is simply one of the most beautiful and entertaining ways to cover distance quickly, and I suspect it will sell almost as fast.
The car is Incl VAT.
Excl Danish registration.
